2007 FSGA Course Rating
The USGA Course Rating is the USGA's evaluation of the playing difficulty of a course for scratch golfers under normal course and weather conditions for the purpose of providing a uniform basis on which to establish a USGA Handicap. It is expressed as strokes taken to one decimal place, and is based on yardage and other obstacles to the extent that they affect he scoring of a scratch golfer.
The USGA Slope Rating evaluates the relative playing difficulty of a course for players who are not scratch golfers. The lowest USGA SLOPE Rating is 55 and the highest is 155. A golf course of standard playing conditions has a USGA SLOPE Rating of 113. USGA Course Ratings, SLOPE and Handicap Index are service marks owned by he USGA and may only be used in connection with the USGA Handicap.
The Slope and ratings from each set of tees, (Gold, Green, Blue, White,Silver and Red), determine how your scores relate to the golf course and provide you with your club handicap. For further information on how ratings and slope effect your handicap log onto www.usga.org.
Remember that using Equitable Stroke Control is a key factor used to determine a true handicap.
