Santa Lucia River Club at Ballantrae
Santa Lucia River Club at Ballantrae has always been known as a prestigious location with good golf. Now it is known as The private club on the St. Lucie River with Great golf. The Jack Nicklaus championship golf course underwent a major renovation, under Jack's supervision, during 2006. New tees, featuring Pas Palum grass, new greens featuring Tif Eagle grass, new bunkers and a massive landscape improvement. The course reopened for play in November of 2006 to rave reviews from members the press and Jack.

The Club amenities consists of Har-Tru tennis courts, swimming and spa complex, fitness center, clubhouse dining, golf practice facilities and a par 72 championship Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course. The Club is private and for the use of members and guests only.


Penn-Florida Club Properties
The owner - developer of Santa Lucia at Ballantrae is Penn-Florida Club Properties, a division of the Penn-Florida Companies. Penn-Florida is a twenty year old Boca Raton based developer. Penn-Florida acquired the property in 2005.

Penn-Florida Club Properties is headed by James R. Applegate, a thirty year veteran in the golf course management, development and design industry. Prior to joining Club Properties Applegate served as VP of golf development for Boca Resorts, Inc. and President of the Gary Player Design Company. He provided project management and oversight for The Floridian, Grande Oaks, Naples Grande, Royal Palm Yacht and CC, The Fox Club and now Santa Lucia.
